WordPress WYSIWYG Table: Create Visually Editable Tables Without Coding

Most people using WordPress aren’t developers. Bloggers, marketers, and small business owners—we all want to create clean, professional tables without diving into code. That’s where WYSIWYG tables make a difference.

WYSIWYG stands for “What You See Is What You Get.” It means you build and edit tables in a way that mirrors the final look, just as you would when working in a Word document. If the default Table block leaves you wanting more, this guide is for you.

Today, I will show you how to create a visually stunning table using the WYSIWYG table builder plugin. The table is below.

🔍 What is a WYSIWYG Table in WordPress?

A WYSIWYG table allows you to edit content visually, directly within the WordPress editor. No HTML. No shortcodes. Just real-time results and intuitive controls.

You get:

  • Real-time editing without reloads
  • Flexible formatting with rich media
  • A drag-and-drop feel for structure
  • Easy image, icon, and button integration

It’s the easiest way to build content-rich tables without technical overhead.

❌ Why the Default WordPress Table Block Falls Short

The built-in Table block does the job for basic layouts—but that’s where its capabilities end:

  • No drag-and-drop for rows or columns
  • Limited customization for borders, spacing, or colors
  • Merging and splitting cells is not possible
  • No support for media inside cells
  • Poor mobile responsiveness

If your table needs more than just plain text, you’ll hit a wall fast.

✅ Why Choose a WYSIWYG Table Plugin?

To unlock the full potential of table design, a visual table plugin like Tableberg is a smart choice. It gives you:

  • Visual Editor: Make changes as you see them—no guesswork
  • Drag-and-Drop: Rearranging cells takes seconds
  • Media Blocks: Add images, buttons, icons, and star ratings
  • Custom Styles: Control cell padding, borders, alignment, and colors
  • Mobile-Friendly: Choose how your table responds on smaller screens

This kind of plugin makes designing rich tables as simple as editing a blog post.

🚀 How to Create a WYSIWYG Table with Tableberg

To create a WYSIWYG table with Tableberg, we must first install the plugin.

1. Install the Tableberg Plugin

Go to Plugins (1) > Add New (2), search for “Tableberg” (3) and click Install (4) followed by Activate.

2. Add a New Table

Open a post or page where you want to add the table. Click the plus (+) icon on the editor (1). Type Tableberg in the search box (2). Add the block to the editor (3).

Set the number of columns and rows for the table. We’ll select 3 × 5 for now, but will create or delete columns and rows if needed. Click the Create Table button at the end.

You will see the table inserted into the editor shortly, like below.

Step 3: Add Content Visually

A. Insert Text Content

Place your cursor in the table cells and type as you wish.

B. Add Images

Now, insert the image block to insert your product images by clicking the “+” icon. You can upload images or select from the media library.

C. Add Star Rating

Add star ratings if you like. Star ratings are a great way to demonstrate the quality of your products.

D. Add Your Buttons

Buttons are an effective way to promote any product or service. So place them strategically

Linking a button is also easy: click the button, select the link option, input your destination link, and adjust the link attributes.

You can adjust and customize your buttons from the right side panel.

E. Insert Icons

Icons work like a charm to tell which features are available and which are not. Inserting the icon block is the same as any other block.

F. Insert Styled List

Styled List is another essential block that helps you add a set of features with icons simultaneously.

Now, add your features. Every time you hit the “Enter” key on your keyboard, you can add new features.

You can access the customization options for the Styled List block on the right side of the editor.

Here is the table I created using Tableberg without customization.

I’ve added some colors, padding, margin, and ribbon at the top. Below are the Images for the Customization I’ve made.

Here are the color codes that I’ve used in the table. (Header Color: #f3f3f3, Even Row Backgrond Color: #3fad3d63, Odd Row Background Color: #d1dec8)

After customization, the final version is presented below.

  • WP Table Builder – Drag-and-drop, flexible content support, Supports Every Page Builder.
  • Ninja Tables – Feature-rich with integrations and conditional logic
  • TablePress (with extensions) – Good for large data sets

Each has strengths, but Tableberg is built to work natively with Gutenberg and prioritizes visual editing.

💼 Practical Use Cases

WYSIWYG tables are perfect for:

  • Pricing comparisons and feature breakdowns
  • Affiliate tables with buttons and ratings
  • Team member grids or event schedules
  • Product catalogs with media-rich cells
  • Step-by-step how-to breakdowns
  • Content summaries for long blog posts

If your content involves structure or comparison, these tables make it more engaging and informative.
